Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Priya is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 10+ years of experience in the healthcare field. She graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. Following graduation, she worked in various medical settings, including cardiology/cardiac step-down, neurology, brain injury, inpatient psychiatry, and surgical units specializing in bariatric surgery, gender-affirming surgery, and urology.

 This range of experience allowed her to obtain a comprehensive scope of knowledge regarding the health needs of diverse populations, which prompted her to further her education. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College.
 
Priya continues to be involved in initiatives to improve mental health care and nursing practice through mentorship, education to future psychiatric nurse practitioners, conferences, and research. She is dual enrolled at Regis College in the Doctorate Program, where she will complete her research dissertation regarding the utilization of integrative techniques on patients with depression in 2023, and Master of Business Administration, which she will also complete in 2024.
 
Priya values a whole-person approach to mental health care that considers the benefit of medication and therapy and the role factors such as nutrition, exercise, and sleep play in overall well-being. She believes in developing a collaborative, supportive, trusting relationship with her patients to promote optimal mental health.

In addition Priya is a dedicated professional with a passion for guiding future psychiatric nurse practitioners. As a mentor and preceptor, she provides invaluable support and guidance to help navigate the uncertainties and challenges that arise at the beginning of their careers. Understanding the importance of ongoing support after graduation, Priya also serves as a PMHNP consultant, specifically assisting new graduate psychiatric nurse practitioners in confidently launching their advanced practice careers during the critical first six to twelve months.
